The Rohingya minority in Burma have few options; discriminated against by the government at home, many flee to other countries they hope will be more hospitable. Thousands take to flimsy boats every year, in a desperate attempt to find refuge. Many of those vessels are never seen again, the fate of their passengers unknown. Poor weather and incompetent navigation account for many of the deaths but in some cases the story is even more shocking. Hywel Davies reports from Indonesia on one case where refugees seeking safety found only barbaric treatment at the hands of the Royal Thai navy.
